The vibrancy of Barcelona, Spain, had always enchanted people from far and wide. Situated in Catalonia, it has a reputation as a creative hub where architecture, design, and culture come together seamlessly. For Spanish photographer Fran Ruiz, Barcelona’s distinct voice became the setting for his voice as a photographer armed to better understand the world.
From a young age, photography became Fran’s chosen language; he was fascinated with how the camera, a technical instrument, was used to capture subtle expressions, fleeting gestures, and the silent narratives unfolding in everyday life, all done with a mere press of a button. Over time, this fascination matured into him wanting to pursue this as a career: to tell stories through light, composition, and perspective.
“As a fashion photographer being based in Barcelona offers a unique advantage. The city’s blend of Mediterranean light, modern design, and cultural diversity informs the aesthetic sensibility behind the work. Yet my practice extends far beyond Spain. National and international collaborations bring exposure to new creative influences, emerging trends, and diverse artistic perspectives.” – Fran Ruiz
Ruiz’s striking photography for the past decade has always sought to capture the stories of his subjects in a way that makes one look more than once, because for him, the parameters of what makes a great image come down to authenticity. Nowadays, you can see his work being recognized on Vogue España ( Spain), Marie Claire, L’ OFFICIEL, ELLE, and Vida Estetica.
ELETOM Magazine is proud to share Ruiz’s latest concept, inspired by the many striking design markers that cement Barcelona’s identity as a global yet intrinsically linked cultural landscape, rooted in centuries-old traditions and history. Which reflects his goal of representing the highest standards of professional fashion photography in Spain.
“My work is born from the constant dialogue between aesthetics and authenticity. I am deeply interested in portraying real people, with personality, strength, and depth. I believe in a kind of beauty that does not rely on excessive artifice, but on sensitivity, trust, and a genuine connection between the subject and the observer. Each session becomes a shared creative process, where ideas flow naturally and the final result reflects that exchange.“
