New York Fashion Week wrapped up with an incredible line-up, once again proving that the city is a global fashion powerhouse. The event not only showcased high-end brands such as Ralph Lauren, Christian Siriano, and others, but also highlighted the growing influence of Asian talent, the debut of Indigenous NYFW, as well as the bi-annual showcase of New York Mens Day. The presence of celebrities, influencers, and trendsetters from around the world underscored the event’s global impact on the fashion industry.

Brands such as Christian Siriano, Rachel Comey, Bronx, and Banco have dared to be different, each combining edginess and femininity through their tailored yet bold silhouettes. Their designs, captured through the lens of Hannah Rozelle, not only emulate the essence of American fashion in each generation but also inspire a sense of daring and individuality.

On the other hand, 22-year-old Pam Denise Parreno, a rising name in Filipino fashion turned heads at Asian NYFW, a segment that focuses on young rising talent. According to the designer, her collection explores different handmade textures — from capiz shells ( an endemic type of jingle oyster from the Philippines) to delicate organza , each hand-appliquéd and hand-beaded to create one-of-a-kind surfaces. Every detail highlights femininity through lightness, fluidity, and craftsmanship.

Indigenous NYFW designers made a statement during Fashion Week, during their debut which was hosted by Relative Arts. A series of shows went on for three days at the East Village with brands such as Pacha Arts, Jamie Okuma, and Copper Canoe Woman taking the stage on one of the most prestigious fashion weeks of the year. The runway highlights included Pacha’s heritage themed line with Kinoo Kinoo Arcentales (Yana Manta) who is an artist of South American indigenous (Kichwa) and Mestizo heritage.
The Yana Manta line focuses on heritage fused with modernity; On the other hand, Jamie Okuma, who is of Luiseño and Shoshonne Bannock descent, released a digital runway presentation showing her new collection of ready-to-wear featuring pieces such as dresses and elegant Kaftans designed with her original print work that featured images dentalium shells, flowers, elk teeth, and butterflies.

Another special highlight that we can’t get enough of is the New York Men’s Day special, where emerging designers showed off their interpretations of the latest in men’s fashion over a two-hour periods, with each of them debuting in the morning and a different set of designers showing in late afternoon.

Fashion Month began in New York, but it wasn’t over yet. The frenzy flew to London, laid over in Milan, and has now made its final stop in Paris.
