A Fashionable Ode Written For The Holiday Season
The holidays are coming; oh what a delight,
With tinsel and cookies all sparkling bright.
Yet beneath all the shimmer, the stress starts to grow,
Chasing perfection steals all of the glow.
Sisters are bickering, past woes on display,
While munching on mom’s cake, they grumble away.
Kids eye the toys, comparing their size,
With spoiled expectations—oh my, what a surprise!
Did we get the right ones? Is the bow tied just right?
Caught in a frenzy, we lose sight of the light.
Did dad even check if the tree’s standing straight?
Or will the kids cry at Santa’s gift full of hate?
Mom’s pouring a glass, a big one to fill,
Pretending the tears are just part of the thrill.
In-laws arrive, with advice they will share,
And there’s that brother—what’s he doing there?
It’s easy to grumble, to sigh and to stew,
But is clenching our teeth worth the holiday blues?
Let’s pause for a moment, put stress on the shelf,
Remember the joy of just being ourselves.
Laugh ‘til we cry, share stories and cheer,
Forget all the fuss, keep loved ones near.
The heart of the season is simple and clear,
Goodwill and connection—this is what we should hold dear.
So here’s to the holidays, quirks and all,
Embrace the chaos, let’s have a ball!
Raise a glass high, toast to the night,
To family and kindness, to joy and to light.
Let go of the grudges, let’s come together,
In the end, it’s love that makes everything better.
So this holiday season, let’s live out the dream.
With laughter and love, we’ll make quite the team.
