I have not been to Isla Mujeres for a decade, but Almare has me already planning my winter or early spring getaway from my minis with the hubby, and just enjoy being kid-free for a week. I will be living by the pool 24-7. Celebrate fall in Tokyo with some of the city’s most exciting new offerings. The Tokyo EDITION in Toranomon starts with an Autumn Afternoon Tea from September 18 – November 19, 2024, featuring sweet potatoes, mushrooms, and figs. If you’re a cocktail connoisseur, hit up the Gold Bar at EDITION, known for its uniquely Japanese take on cocktails, such as the Unreal Midori Sawa and Metropolitan. If you want to experience more of Tokyo’s inner city culture, head to Ginza and be part of its yearly autumnal festivities in mid-October, which includes everything from tea ceremonies to parades. 

Pro tip from one of our Editors, Cyan Dacasin, who just got back from Japan: Pack your best walking shoes and plenty of room in your luggage, or just buy a new suitcase ( you honestly might need it) for some incredible tax-free shopping. She didn’t have time to experience the Autumn Afternoon Tea, which she was majorly bummed about, but she says she did have some awesome Japanese cocktails, highballs, and sours included! 

The Standard Biergarten – NYC

Oktoberfest in New York City? Absolutely. If you’re in the mood for bratwursts, beer steins, and carnival games (who isn’t?), The Standard Biergarten at the High Line is the place to be. And yes, there’s a Ferris wheel, so why not? The block party kicks off Sept. 21, a two-week-long beer-fueled fest you won’t want to miss. Grab your friends, throw on a flower crown (it’s a thing), and head downtown for the best excuse to eat, drink, and pretend you’re in Munich.
